Observations of mesoscale variability in the Rockall Trough

► Mesoscale eddies in Rockall Trough were studied using in situ and satellite data. ► North of Porcupine Bank, mostly anticyclonic eddies were formed. ► Eddies near the continental slope are likely formed by the Slope Current. ► An eddy near the slope contained Mediterranean Water at intermediate depth. ► North Atlantic Current eddies can be found in the southwestern Rockall Trough.
