No microzooplankton grazing during a Mediopyxis helysia dominated diatom bloom

► The large diatom Mediopyxis helysia recently invaded the Wadden Sea. ► Mediopyxis contributed to almost 50% of diatom biovolume during the spring bloom in 2010. ► Dilution experiments could detect no microzooplankton grazing on a spring bloom community.
