Effect of the inlet dimensions on the maximum-efficiency cyclone height

► Effect of cyclone height on efficiency was studied by varying conical section. ► The maximum-efficiency cyclone height is reduced with reduce of the inlet size. ► Changing trends of maximum-efficiency height and natural vortex length are similar. ► “Vortex turning” is a key inherent factor determining the maximum-efficiency height. ► Effect of inlet on maximum-efficiency height depends on natural vortex length change.
