This work presents the absorption of CO2 into aqueous blends of 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl-1,3-propanediol (AHPD) and monoethanolamine (MEA) at 303, 313, and 323 K as well as physicochemical properties of this blended amine solvent over the temperature range from 293 to 323 K. The total amine concentration of the blend in the solution was kept constant at 30% by mass. The absorption flux of CO2 into the aqueous blends increased with the increase in temperature from 303 to 323 K. The absorption flux decreased when the concentration of AHPD increased in the blends. The densities and viscosities of six (AHPD + MEA + H2O) mixtures were measured and correlated over the temperature range 293 to 333 K. The correlated values were found in excellent agreement with the experiment values.
► Flux of CO2 absorption into AHPD + MEA blends increased with increase in temperature.
► CO2 absorption flux into AHPD + MEA is higher than the absorption into AHPD alone.
► Densities and viscosities of AHPD + MEA blend were measured.
► These were correlated with both temperature and concentrations of the amines used.
► Correlated results were found in excellent agreement with the experiment data.
