Pressure distributions and force chains during simulated ice rubbling against sloped structures

► Simulations of ice rubbling process were conducted with a combined FEM-DEM. ► Pressures during peak load events were local and located mainly at the waterline. ► Force was transmitted to sloping structure through rubble pile with force chains. ► Major load drops were caused by force chain buckling.
