The Cenomanian/Turonian Boundary Event (CTBE) at Tarfaya, Morocco, northwest Africa: Eccentricity controlled water column stratification as major factor for total organic carbon (TOC) accumulation: Evidence from marine palynology

► The CTBE at Tarfaya: low diversity dinocysts assemblages dominated by peridinioids. ► Eccentricity cycles correlate to TOC, p/g ratio, dinocyst Bosedinia, Botryococcus. ► Strong density stratification is superimposed by episodic upwelling pulses. ► Strongest denitrification is suggested by prasinophytes at the top of Cenomanian.
