Synthesis and characterization of vanadium species coated on alumina, magnesium oxide and hydrotalcite supports to SOx removal

- Vanadium-Al2O3, MgO and MgO-MgAl2O4 catalysts were used for sulfur removal in FCC process.
- Vanadium on MgO-MgAl2O4 is preferentially located on magnesium.
- The SO3 pick-up efficiency largely increases upon vanadium addition on MgO and MgO-MgAl2O4 supports.
- Sulfate reduction to H2S and water was largely improved in presence of vanadium-magnesium catalysts.
