Hydrogen production by methanol steam reforming on NiSn/MgO-Al2O3 catalysts: The role of MgO addition

▶ The incorporation of MgO to Al2O3 results in the formation of MgAl2O4 spinel. ▶ The acidity of the catalysts decreases when increasing the MgO content. ▶ NiSn/MgO/Al2O3 catalysts are active in steam reforming of methanol. ▶ The addition of Sn improves the resistance to coke formation. ▶ Higher the basicity, lower the level of the carbonaceous deposit formed.
