Tailoring the porous structure of N-doped carbon for increased oxygen reduction reaction activity

An open structure of N-doped carbon with a high surface area of 1893.5 m2 g− 1 is synthesized from soybean dregs in NaCl/ZnCl2/NaNO3 molten salt medium. The ORR activity of as-prepared carbon is comparable to commercial Pt/C due to its unique structure.223
