Novel I−-doped BiOBr composites: Modulated valence bands and largely enhanced visible light phtotocatalytic activities

Novel I-BiOBr composites with different I− doping amounts displayed superior photocatalytic performance for decomposing methyl orange in comparison with single BiOBr under visible light irradiation (λ > 400 nm). The enhanced photocatalytic activity mainly attributed to the newly formed I− impurity levels on the top of valence band of BiOBr.
