Inorganic photoelectrochemical solar cells based on nanocrystalline ZnO/ZnSe and ZnO/CuSe heterostructures

- ZnO/ZnSe and ZnO/CuSe heterostructures were produced from ZnO films by a simple method.
- ZnO film acts as a template defining morphology and composition of ZnO/ZnSe and ZnO/CuSe heterostructures.
- ZnO/ZnSe is a visible-light-sensitive Cd-free photoanode in a model solar cell.
- ZnO/CuSe is a 10 times more active cathode than Pt wire in tandem with ZnO/ZnSe photoanode.
