An efficient and stable Cu/SiO2 catalyst for the syntheses of ethylene glycol and methanol via chemoselective hydrogenation of ethylene carbonate

β-cyclodextrin modified Cu/SiO2 catalysts were successfully prepared by ammonia evaporation method. They exhibited high efficiency with excellent stability for synthesizing methanol and ethylene glycol via chemoselective hydrogenation of ethylene carbonate derived from CO2.
