Modelling spontaneous ignition of wood, char and RDF in a lab-scale packed bed

► We model spontaneous ignition of wood, char and RDF by preheated primary air. ► Increasing the air velocity increases the temperature at which the fuel bed ignites. ► Increasing the air velocity increases the air temperature needed for ignition. ► Increasing the air velocity shifts the location of the ignition upwards.
