Flame height and lift-off of turbulent buoyant jet diffusion flames in a reduced pressure atmosphere

► Flame heights of diffusive jet fires achieved in a reduced pressure atmosphere through unique experiments at high altitude. ► Flame lift off behavior is revealed for the first time in a reduced pressure atmosphere. ► Their difference from those in the normal pressure atmosphere is revealed and quantified. ► Global model is developed to account for the pressure change.
