AFBC of coal with tyre rubber. Influence of the co-combustion variables on the mineral matter of solid by-products and on Zn lixiviation

► Tyre blended with a high ash coal is a proper fuel in AFBC for electricity generation. ► Tyre offers a high calorific power (38.82 MJ/kg) and a low mineral content (3.30%). ► Zinc recovery (until 95%) from tyre ashes is viable for secondary metal production. ► Zinc recovery from fly ash is always greater than from bottom. ► Temperature and leaching time favours the extraction of zinc in acid lixiviation.
