Purification to remove leached CaO catalyst from biodiesel with the help of cation-exchange resin

► Biodiesel produced by heterogeneously CaO-catalyzed transesterification was purified with cation-exchange resin. ► The paired cation and the polymer matrix affected the removal of the leached CaO catalyst. ► The addition of methanol into biodiesel resulted in the perfect removal.
