Semi-technical underground coal gasification (UCG) using the shaft method in Experimental Mine “Barbara”

► Semi-technical underground coal gasification using the shaft method was performed. ► Over a period of 15 days, approximately 22 tonnes of hard coal were gasified. ► The average heating value of product gas was 3.8 MJ/N m3. ► The average H2 and CO contents in the product gas were 14.2 vol.% and 13.4 vol.%, respectively. ► The thermal efficiency of the process was approximately 56%.
