Effects of particle cloud extinction on synthesis gas reduction of metal oxides in chemical looping reactors

► Particle cloud extinction may limit chemical looping conversion of metal oxides. ► CuO has the lowest propensity to particle cloud extinction in syngas reduction. ► NiO has the highest propensity to particle cloud extinction in syngas reduction. ► Syngas mixtures with high CO content minimise the extinction of particle clouds.
