Gasification of biomass and waste in a staged fluidized bed gasifier: Modeling and comparison with one-stage units

► A new method of staged gasification for biomass and waste based on fluidized bed design. ► A model is develop to show the advantage of this technology to generate electricity from wastes at small-to-medium scale. ► Significant improvement of performance is achieved compared with one-stage gasification units. ► Efficiency up to 85% and a gas with tar concentration lower than 0.01 g/Nm3 can be produced.
