Catalytic combustion of propane over mixed oxides derived from CuxMg3−xAl hydrotalcites

► Hydrotalcite-derived CuxMg3−xAl mixed oxides were used for propane combustion. ► The mixed oxides showed even better activity than the noble metal catalyst. ► Their catalytic performance highly depended on their composition and structure. ► These catalysts possess great potential for complete oxidation of toxic organics.
