Fuels from bio-oils: Bio-oil production from different residual sources, characterization and thermal conditioning

► Bio-oils from the pyrolysis of various residual biomasses and their fractions were characterized. ► Bio-oil composition and physicochemical properties changed positively after thermal treatment. ► Most important changes were in phenols and heavy molecular weight compounds, CCR and EHI. ► Pine bio-oil resulted most appropriate for co-processing in FCC.
