The effect of additives on coking pressure and coke quality

► We studied the possibility of reducing coking pressure by means of additives. ► The most effective additive for reducing coking pressure is coke fines. ► A low volatile PCI coal is more effective than a high volatile PCI coal as coking pressure reducer. ► The cokes that contain coke fines present very low CSR values. ► The low volatile matter PCI coal is the best additive for reducing coking pressure without impairing coke quality.
