Methane oxidation over Pd catalysts supported on binary Al2O3-La2O3 oxides prepared by the sol-gel method

► Lanthana in Pd catalysts supported on Al2O3 promotes the oxidation of CH4 at lower temperatures. ► Highest SBET and CH4 conversion were obtained in the Pd catalyst with 6 wt% of lanthana. ► The presence of PdO and La2O3⋅xPdO phases were found in the catalysts.
