Study of the thermal degradation of an aluminium phosphinate-aluminium trihydrate combination

► Degradation of diethyl aluminium phosphinate and aluminium trihydroxyde was studied. ► The degradation pathway of AlPi is modified when mixed with ATH. ► Chemisorption of the phosphinate on the alumina resulting from ATH occurs. ► Formation of aluminophosphonate is prevented whereas phosphonic acid is released.
