Manufacturing of the full size prototype of the ion source for the ITER neutral beam injector - The SPIDER beam source

The paper describes the status of the procurement, the adaptations operated on the design of the beam source for the fabrication, with particular emphasis to the engineering development to enable the fulfillment of the tight requirements set in the technical specifications. Moreover the tests performed on the prototypes are reported.
