Hysteresis Characteristics of Shear Panel Damper Using SLY120
چکیده انگلیسی

Shear panel dampers (SPD) are a type hysteresis damper used in structures to absorb seismic energy whereby damages to the major structural components could be minimized. It dissipates seismic energy by metallic deformation of the panel, welded between two plates called flanges and upper and lower end plates; and fatigue resistance around the welding part. The disadvantage of such dampers is that they absorb seismic energy only when they go through inelastic deformation. To overcome this restriction of hysteretic dampers, low yield strength steel is used as the material for hysteretic damper because low yield point steel has excellent ductility performance. Nonlinear finite element analysis was carried out to predict the large deformation and hysteretic behavior of SPD using low yield point steel (SYP120). The developed nonlinear SPD analysis model was verified with quasi static loading test.
