A novel neural network and backtracking based protection coordination scheme for distribution system with distributed generation

► We proposed a novel adaptive protection scheme for distribution system with DG. ► We developed an automated fault location method using two-stage RBF neural network. ► New protection coordination strategy using the backtracking algorithm is proposed. ► The developed scheme is useful to decrease the total down time during faults.
