Speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motors using fuzzy controller based on genetic algorithms

► We model a genetic based FLC using a different optimization approach. ► The optimal FLC ensuring optimal performance is achieved without wasting time. ► It is proved that the proposed FLC outperforms the conventional FLC. ► The GA tries to seek the best performance for one case but not the best for all. ► However, GAs can be run online by the help of high-speed processors in practice.
