Control of mold level in continuous casting based on a disturbance observer

► An adaptive sine estimator based disturbance observer is introduced to eliminate the bulging disturbance on the molten steel level. ► We propose to use the phase lead adaptive fuzzy controller which works with the PID controller to eliminate the remaining disturbance. ► Experimental results establish the validity of the proposed control method.
