Inhibition of pyrite corrosion and photocorrosion by MEKF-R modified carbazoles

► Natural FeS2 surface was coated with carbazole/N-vinylcarbazole/methyl ethyl ketone formaldehyde resin copolymers. ► The photocorrosion and photoactivity of coated electrodes were investigated in KI/I2 redox electrolyte. ► The presence of carbazole ring improve the photoactivity as well as, protect the pyrite from corrosion. ► Inclusion of MEKF-R group makes the photocurrent of P[NVCz-MEKF-R] coating has a value of 3 times higher than PNVCz. ► Appropriate selection of coating for the purpose of application is possible.
