Disrupted rhythms and mobile ICT in a surgical department

► Factors affecting acceptance of mobile ICT in a hospital was studied. ► Important informal communication was facilitated by rhythms in work. ► Rhythms supported by work related activities in common area and “gossip”. ► A mobile ICT tool freed workers from needing to visit common area. ► This tool disrupted these rhythms and the informal group meetings.
