Antibacterial polymeric coating based on polypyrrole and polyethylene glycol on a new alloy TiAlZr

► PPY and PPy/PEG polymeric coatings were electrodeposited on TiAlZr implant alloy. ► The surface coating was investigated using FT-IR, AFM, SEM, and wettabilitty. ► PPy/PEG 2% polymeric coatings exhibited superior stability. ► PPy/PEG coatings present highest antibacterial effect for 2% PEG concentration. ► The Escherichia coli inhibition can be associated with surface characteristics.
