Treatment of TNT red water by layer melt crystallization

- A novel technology for treatment of TNT red water: Cooling the red water, preparing crystalline ice layer and then sweating the crystalline ice layer make a dramatic reduction of COD value.
- Very easy and quick treatment: COD value of the red water was significantly reduced from 10,000 mg/L to below 20 mg/L within 3 h.
- Organic content of the red water was reduced from about 3 wt% to 0.0003 wt%.
- Crystallization combined with the sweating operation was recommendable for treatment of TNT red water.
