- The surface morphology of this novel multiphase glass-ceramic (named M2) was beneficial to cell adhesion.
- The M2 extracts at certain concentrations stimulated the proliferation and differentiation of MG63 and L929 cells.
- First time, the glass-ceramic extracts were found to inhibit A549 proliferation.
- Cell ultrastructure confirmed the cytotoxic effects on A549 and it might be caused by the ionic products from M2 suspension.
- The effects of M2 on cell behaviors mainly resulted from the released Si ions, either separately or synergistically with Ca and Mg ions.
