Prototype reactor simulation for on-board use of hydrogen in a hybrid MTH (methylcyclohexane-toluene-hydrogen)-gasoline system and a simplified dynamic modeling for the startup

- A novel reactor-heat exchanger system for the MTH system is proposed and simulated.
- The reactor-heat exchanger system is found well away from the “thermal pinch”.
- There is a significant advantage in adding fins to the tube geometry.
- The reactor performance can tolerate a significant loss of catalyst activity.
- Titanium aluminide may offer a viable alternative to stainless steel.
