Preparation and anti-protein fouling property of δ-gluconolactone-modified hydrophilic polysulfone membranes

▸ Polysulfone is modified with a multi-hydroxyl compound by the two-step reaction. ▸ Hydroxyl groups on the membrane surface suppress protein adsorption effectively. ▸ We probe absorption mechanism of proteins by pH and salt effect. ▸ pH and salt effects show that hydrophobic interaction dominates protein adsorption. ▸ The preparation procedure of membrane is rather simple and produces less pollution.
