Effect of water in ionic liquids on CO2 permeability in amino acid ionic liquid-based facilitated transport membranes

▸ Supported ionic liquid membranes containing amino acid ionic liquids were prepared. ▸ Amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) facilitated the CO2 transport. ▸ CO2 permeability and CO2/N2 selectivity were >10,000 Barrers and >100, respectively. ▸ AAIL with proline provided faster CO2 permeability than the others. ▸ Water-holding ability of an AAIL was important to determine the CO2 permeability.
