Acetalization reaction of ethanol with butyraldehyde coupled with pervaporation. Semi-batch pervaporation studies and resistance of HybSi® membranes to catalyst impacts

► HybSi® membranes are selective for ethanol/butanal/1,1 diethoxy butane/water mixtures. ► HybSi membranes handle Amberlyst 47 particle impacts, its behavior was stable. ► Final conversion rises from 40% to 70% applying pervaporation. ► Despite being exothermic reaction high temperatures benefit the overall process. ► Experimental data and predicted data by batch model were in a good agreement.
