VLES study of a jet impinging onto a heated wall
چکیده انگلیسی
A flow configuration representing a jet issuing from a channel-shaped nozzle, at a moderate Reynolds number corresponding to Rem=9120, and impinging perpendicularly onto a heated wall is studied computationally within a time-accurate VLES (Very Large Eddy Simulation) framework. The presently obtained VLES-results are analyzed along with the available reference database provided by Hattori and Nagano (2004) by means of Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). In addition, the RANS (Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) computations employing an elliptic-relaxation-based eddy-viscosity model, representing the constituent of the present VLES modeling scheme, are performed for the sake of a comparative assessment. Prior to the impinging jet flow, the VLES model is validated by computing convective heat transfer in a plane channel at friction-velocity-based Reynolds numbers Reτ=180 and Reτ=640, for which the DNS database is made available by Kawamura et al. (1998) and Abe et al. (2012). Reasonable to very good agreement with the DNS database concerning the mean flow and thermal field properties and associated turbulence quantities is achieved.
