In Japan, EGLA has been increasing since ZnO was developed. We developed Current Limiting Arcing Horn (CLAH) for 22 kV power distribution line which was one of the EGLA. A lot of composite type lightning protection devices including CLAH are adopted for 6.6 kV power line in Japan. This CLAH is the first lightning protection device, which used MOV, on 22 kV distribution line in Japan. CLAH is better than arrester and arcing horn in interrupting the follow-current, re-transmission and other abilities. This product will contribute to be the decreasing outages for 22 kV distribution line.
► We developed Current Limiting Arcing Horn (CLAH) for 22 kV power distribution line which was one of the EGLA.
► CLAH can be fitted on existing LP insulator by removing the arcing horn.
► CLAH has the pressure relief structure.
► CLAH is better than arrester and arcing horn in interrupting the follow-current, re-transmission and other abilities.
