Anisotropic colloidal quasi-two-dimensional (2D) hybrid nanoplates (HNPLs) of inorganic-organic zinc selenide (ZnSe·0.5N2H4) and zinc selenide doped manganese (ZnSe:Mn·0.5N2H4) have been fabricated by one-step solvothermal synthesis in a binary solution of distilled water and hydrazine under microwave irradiation at atmospheric and high pressure versus conventional heating. The structure, morphology and compositions of the ZnSe·0.5N2H4 and ZnSe:Mn·0.5N2H4 HNPLs were characterized by TEM and SEM analyses, X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, UV-vis spectroscopy and BET analysis. The as-prepared ZnSe·0.5N2H4 and ZnSe:Mn·0.5N2H4 2D HNPLs in microwave reactor at high pressure conditions have been highly crystallized single crystals with the thickness of a range of 15-30 nm, side length of 200-300 nm and width of 100-150 nm. SEM analysis shows that the further surface modification of ZnSe:Mn·0.5N2H4 2D HNPLs with octadecanoic acid provides more regular and narrow structures of nanocrystals. Additionally, the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) solution using ZnSe·0.5N2H4 and ZnSe:Mn∙0.5N2H4, 2D HNPLs as photocatalysts under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation is investigated.
