Effects of surface morphology and treatment of iron oxide nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of an epoxy coating

- Fe3O4 nanoparticles with fiber-like and polygon morphologies were synthesized.
- 3-Amino propyl trimethoxy silane was successfully grafted on the nanoparticles.
- Tensile strength of the coating significantly increased using surface modified particles.
- Silane modified particles with fiber-like morphology resulted in the greatest toughness.
