Curing and thermo-mechanical studies of a modified thermosetting clearcoat containing OH-functional POSS nanocages

- An acrylic polyol/melamine hardener was modified with a POSS macromolecule.
- OH-functionals of acrylic were stoichiometrically substituted with those of POSS.
- Chemical, thermo-mechanical and rheological properties of all systems were studied.
- POSS addition led to reduced viscosity, more efficient curing, and increased XLD.
- POSS dispersed in a molecular scale in the matrix with no aggregation.
