Nanoparticles (NPs) 20-30nm in size with a surface coating of resveratrol on gum arabic stabilized gold nanoparticles were synthesized.The NPs were successfully radiolabled with Tc-99m with a lableling efficiency of >90% and injected intravenously into colon tumor bearing rats. Comparing % specific uptake values for 99mTc-Res-AuNP with 99mTc-resveratrol in colon tumors, the values were significantly higher for 99mTc-Res-AuNP.Low reticuloendothelial uptake and slow clearance of the NPs from blood pool improved the bio-availiability and consequently the uptake of radiolabled resveratrol molecules at the target site thus proving the pharmacokinetic effectivness of 99mTc-Res-AuNP over 99mTc-resveratrol for this kind of in vivo application.188
