Functional engineered mesenchymal stem cells with fibronectin-gold composite coated catheters for vascular tissue regeneration

The ideal characteristics of surface modification on the vascular graft for clinical application would be with excellent hemocompatibility, endothelialization capacity, and antirestenosis ability. Here, in vitro study attempted to employ a functionalized surface coating made of AuNP and FN to improve the biocompatibility as well as the bioactivity. In vivo vascular regeneration evaluation showed that FN-AuNP nanocomposite increased the expression of CD31 and α-SMA, and less blood clot formation detected in the vascular tissues isolated from FN-AuNP-coated catheter with MSCs, proposing FN-AuNP may be a potential surface coating for implanted cardiovascular devices.158
