MPDF: mobile pulse data format for traditional Chinese medical mHealthcare

This paper designed and evaluated MPDF, a mobile pulse data format which can be easily used in processing the traditional Chinese pulse data in the context of mobile healthcare (mHealthcare). MPDF aims at normalizing and extracting the critical features in pulse data from continuous pulse-sensing devices. MPDF can lower the data capacity by transmitting necessary features, in order to achieve the goals of data compression. MPDF is used to preprocess original pulse data to reduce noise, and then extract significant features. Experimental results showed that MPDF describes pulse data in an efficient way to get a good compression ratio (CR) and recurrence difference (RD). MPDF can be easily used in mining useful information from patients' data and assisting doctors to make accurate diagnosis.
