⺠In recent years, there has been a great deal of effort expended on developing drugs to improve long-term memory, and a few drugs have been made that facilitate LTP and enhance the CREB-dependent phase of memory. ⺠The present study examined the protective effect of a stilbenoid compound (PG) against the d-galactose-induced neurotoxicity in mice. ⺠We found that injection of PG for two weeks significantly improved behavioral performance, increased antioxidant capacity and improved long-term potentiation (LTP) in d-gal treated mice. By western blotting we also found that PG rescued d-galactose-induced impairment of CREB activation in mice hippocampus. ⺠These data suggested that the effects of PG on LTP facilitation and memory enhancement may due to the activation of CREB.
