Políticas de empleo y sus efectos: el caso de la formación dirigida a desempleados

We analyze the effect of participation in public training programs on the probability of employment and occupational matching of jobseekers inscribed at public employment offices. After defining different labour market indicators, we estimate probabilities of employment and occupational matching between job demands and contracts. We use administrative records coming from the regional employment service of the Autonomous Community of Madrid for the period 2006-2009. Our empirical results show that, even after controlling for selection bias, participants in training programs display higher employment probabilities and higher probabilities of occupational matching. This indicates that participation in this kind of policies allows a better adjustment between job demands and labour market vacancies.
