Model for domain wall avalanches in ferromagnetic thin films

► We model the Barkhausen effect in ferromagnetic thin films.► The 2-d model is based in discrete rules for evolution of magnetic domain wall.► We found power-law critical behavior for distributions of sizes and jump-durations.► The results are in good agreement with experiments and new theoretical contributions.► The model allows us to review current issues in the study of avalanche motion.
