Traffic gridlock on complex networks

► We model the vehicular traffic on complex and real networks. ► Two new models that describe the emerging of traffic jams up to traffic gridlock. ► Both models capture some basic features of vehicular traffic. ► The distribution of avalanche size on the Apollonian network follows a power law. ► The distribution of flux on the Swiss road network follows a power law.
